The work day at OHR is January 24th and should get going @ 9 a.m. Darryl said that he'd have the gates open Friday night for anyone who wants to camp at the track.

Projects on the agenda include: moving a tire wall, repairing the bleachers and announcers tower, running electricity to the scoring tower, building a wire fence and general maintenance/repairs.

Don't forget to bring gloves and any tools which might be handy. Weedeaters, shovels, hammers, pliers, etc. Any materials that you'd like to donate for repairs.

Folks who work on Saturday may practice on Sunday for free. Those who don't work on Saturday but want to practice on Sunday must pay the regular fee to Darryl. CMRA license holders $75, all other competition license holders $100.

Thank you Nancy for the kind information and valuable update on the OHR work day.

One question for the thrifty among us... Can we get a rain check on the free practice? Some of us are not only thrifty but also procrastinators who have not yet fully prepared our motorcycles for the track. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Thanks again,

Blake

No need to reply. Saw your post in the OHR on 25th topic in the main board. Am gratified that y'all are looking out for us thrifty procrastinators. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Is there someone we need to contact to let them know we will be there?

No just show up and we'll get your name on the work sheet and you will get a vocher at the end of the day for a practice day at no charge. Thanks Norm

The last weather forecast I read says 100% chance of rain with more than one inch expected on Saturday. I know its late, but we may do more harm than good dragging trucks, trailers and equipment through the red mud! Any chance we can re-schedule?

Steve McNamara posted this on the main page:

Topic: Important Weekend OHR Workday information
------------------------------------------
The Saturday forecast for our OHR Workday does not look promising. If the weather keeps us from finishing our track improvement/work plans on Saturday we will be forced to complete our stuff on Sunday. This could obviously cut into our Sunday practice time. The work that is needed at OHR will take precedent over practice time. I'm sure you understand our situation here. Some of the work can be done early like moving a tire wall, and fence repairs. Others like the stands/bleacher repairs can be done while people ride the track. We'll play it by ear if and when the rain interferes with our plans. Thanks in advance for your support. We really need this stuff fixed before our first race weekend.

So does this mean you are planning on two work days?

Is everyone planning to show up on Saturday and then make a decision?

If necessary. Riding will be secondary to needed track improvements/repairs. There are other weekends...

Next year, announce the workday a week BEFORE the club intends to have it, THAT WAY IT WON'T RAIN /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

It did rain (and it still is) but we still had about 30 people show up. The bleachers were repaired, tire walls were cleaned up and repaired, weeds and vines were cut, and junk was collected for later removal. Thanks to all who came out and worked.
