View Full Version : FWIW: Barber was awesome...

Some CMRA riders ventured out to Barber and everyone I talked to loved it. I have never personally seen ANYTHING with the attention to detail that Barber has.

I took some pic's that I will post. The spectator "stadiums" that are the hillsides along T1-2 & T12-13 are incredible places to watch a race from.

Most every one of our riders did great. Logan lead the Solo 20 on Saturday for awhile and ran great on Sunday. Ben Thompson did really well finishing on the podium in at least one race. Scott Beckley ran great and took several top 5 spots home. Dewey Woods & Steve Fahey did well also.

BTW: Jeff Selbert (for those that remember him) is doing well and was racing a GSXR-1000, but had a get off. He was OK.

Special thanks to Billy Young for his GSXR-750 loaner. I would not have been able to race without him.

Overall there were 900+ entries and most every race has 20+ riders per class and 50+ riders per grid (DICEY!!!).

If you really want to treat yourself to a truly special racing weekend, go to Barber. The track management was nice to us. I sincerely hope it stays that way.

What is the mileage to Barber and the drive time
to get there? What hotels/motels in the immediate area, also? Thanks for the post, Marcus!

The drive was horrible. It rained really heavily on the way up and back and reduced HWY speeds to 45 mph for several hours each way. From Houston, it is about 650miles.

Camping facilities ARE EXCELLENT. The showers are very nice.

We stayed at the track, but the rooms were advertised for 29.00 and up from what we saw.

I took "sets" of pictures from each corner to kidna give you a "good feel" of the track layout. I put 5-6 pictures together in photoshop and matched them up. I will get the rest tomorrow (for those that want to better see the track).

Soggy Bottom is entered in the endurance race at Barber in Sept. We'll be slow but we will be touring the track. Glen Weir, Tim Freeman, and Sissy's hero. /ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Also look for Soggy Bottom CMRA at Cresson when Sissy's hero and Eric "speed ball" Haggerty do Cresson. Rumor has it that Soggy Bottom will be gunning for Illicit Velocity.
