Per vote of the BoD:

For 2010 the CMRA has decided to establish a new class designed for the rookie expert rider. All new experts for 2010 will have a chance to race against each other in one race without having to compete against the veteran expert riders. This will allow the rookie experts to showcase their talents in the "Rookie Expert Race."
Over the years the jump to expert classification has been an overwhelming step for many racers and racing against the toughest group of experts in the country has been a tall order. For many racers it's difficult to go from podium finishes in the Novice ranks to hopefully finishing in the top 10 in the Expert class.
It can be discouraging for the newly promoted experts and the club can lose some talented riders that could ultimately not live up to their potential someday becoming a club or national champion.

This class was created to help newly promoted experts stay excited about racing and help them to continue with their learning curve. This also gives them an opportunity to win contingency money from supporting class sponsors.

The Rookie Expert Race will be limited to A,B, and C class machinery. These combined classes made up 75% percent or more of bumped experts over the past few seasons and have historically been the toughest and most contested classes for the new experts.

This class will not affect the current Rookie of the Year Award which allows all classes of machinery and takes into account the finishes of the rookie experts in other races.

That is awesome. Thanks BOD. I believe that is a HUGE step in the right direction on retaining new experts!

I'm sure this question will be asked, will contingency pay out still? Will it be expert payout if it is?

Tony,

We are working out the details on the contingency for this class as well as other classes along with potential sponsors and will let everyone know as soon as possible.

Ah darn, just a year late. It will still be a fun race to watch.

Will this class contribute to Expert Overall points?
And this give us what, 19 races on Sunday now?

One of the greatest challenges of any org is retaining experts. The old crew of racers that bumped with me are all gone: White, Rawlinson, Askeroglu, Keene, Chason, Holderness, Hodson, Falconi, Beasley, and on and on....all gone. Maybe this will help with that problem.

I am not sure about the overall expert points but will let you know. And yes, my count is 19 races.

I would say this decision was a wise one. It seems unsurmountable to run well in Expert after one year of somewhat consistent/somewhat fast lap times in Novice races. Your still a country mile from rolling with the leaders, and feeling competitive.
