I race a Kaw 636. I recently replaced my D 208A GP's with D 208 GP's. After 2 sprint races & a track day 9-15-03 I found a deep 1 1/2" diagonal tear in the rear tire. Sport Tire Services in CA advised the tire was OK (email them pics of the tear). They stated sometimes when these tires run a high temps this seam will show up, but doesn't mean the tire is going to fail or come apart. They recommended I keep racing on the tire, since it looked very good except for the tear! Comments.,

When in doubt Don't. Its you butt on that machine. My two cents worth.

David,
We had a similar tear on our endurance rear tire at TWS. We did not notice it until the end of the race. The tire was a hard compound Bridgestone. It tore at the seam of the carcass where it meets the side wall. Can you e mail me pics?
